Shipping from Amazon US to Malaysia using BuyandShip.my: My Experience in 2018

Like most Malaysians who shop online, you may discover that even online, the selection can be quite limited. Hello Awin

For things that can’t be bought online in Malaysia, the best other option is to buy from Amazon US.

But the sad thing is that not all products can be shipped from Amazon US directly to Malaysia. There are many reasons for this.

So if you still want to buy from Amazon, your best bet is to get it using a forwarding service.

There are many forwarding services that can help you with shipping from US to Malaysia, but I found most of their interfaces difficult to use. They were often difficult to talk to and gave a slow response.

Buyandship.my was recently launched. With a flat rate of RM10 per pound from any US, UK, China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, it was on my list of forwarding companies to use.

But it was not until one of my friends successfully forwarded his Amazon order to Malaysia that I decided to give it a try myself.

Coincidentally I needed to buy a US-made supplement for a family member which was previously sold on Lazada but no longer. 

The product also does not ship directly to Malaysia.

So I decided to give Buyandship.my a try to get this product in my hands.

This is a post about my experience using Buyandship.my and why I think you should use it for your own forwarding purposes also.

Overall Experience: 4.5/5 (Recommend to Use)

Before I get into the details, here’s a quick summary of the service:

Summary: Buyandship.my is a Hong Kong based forwarding service that provides an easy to use interface and affordable forwarding option from countries like US, UK, AU, CH, HK and TW to Malaysia.

What I like about it:

• Self-service platform. You don’t need any agents if you know how to use the website.
• It’s easy to communicate with them using their live chat function. 
  
• Pricing is very transparent. Just RM10 a pound. Best of all, they charged by weight and not volume. (Though, they do have a limit on their volume)
  
• Free basic insurance covers up to $100 and just 3% of your product price when your item is above $100. This will cover any products lost in transition.
• Shipping is relatively quick. It took just over a week for the parcel to move from their US warehouse to my doorstep.
• 14 Days free storage

What I don’t like about it: 

• There isn’t really anything I’ve found on Buyandship that I don’t like!

Other things you need to be concerned about shipping from Amazon US:

• Before you buy anything from Amazon US, you need to check to make sure that the items are not prohibited by Malaysian customs. If so, the items may be confiscated.
• Be careful about buying items in bulk as you may be levied heavy taxes 

Verdict: Highly recommended to use if you want to ship from Amazon US or any US site to Malaysia.

The Process: How I got my Amazon US order in 2 Weeks+

On 13th August, I placed an order for Nutrigold Hawthorn Gold on Amazon.

On the 17th August, I receive an email from Amazon saying that my item has been shipped and is on the way:

At this point, I have my tracking number already. So I declare the item on Buyandship. I forgot to take the screenshot of the declaration but this is how it will look roughly (this is for a new product I’m shipping from Amazon):

It’s important to declare your parcels before they reach the warehouse, by the way!

So once the item reaches the warehouse, the shipment will move from being under ‘Declared items’ to ‘Arrived at Overseas Warehouse’ and so on, until it goes under ‘Arrived at HK Warehouse’.

Once it has arrived at the HK Warehouse, you will get an e-mail asking you to consolidate your shipments:

If you have more than one shipment, you can consolidate all into one parcel to save costs. 

After that, they weigh your parcel and let you know how much your shipping fee will be.

For this order, I didn’t have any other product so the parcel was 0.8lb. Since it is under 1lb, I was charged RM10. 

Since every new user who signs up gets RM10 free credits, I used that to pay for this order.

Once the payment has been made, I receive this email telling me that my order is ready to be delivered:

While the parcel is in transit, I used the UPS tracking to track the movement.

A few days later, on 28th August, I received the parcel!

The parcel comes in Buyandship.my’s yellow shipping flyer:

I took it apart and inside of it was the Amazon parcel, completely intact. 

Inside of the parcel, my item is packed in this container. This I need to thank the seller for.

Overall, I would say that I’m pretty satisfied with this order. It was shipped fairly quickly and the product arrived in really good condition. 

I have already made my second order on Amazon US and will be shipping it in using Buyandship.my. Hopefully, my experience with the second order turns out to be as good as the first one!

How to Get Started with BuyandShip.my

Step 1: Sign up for an account with Buyandship.my and add addresses

Step 2: Buy the item on Amazon US and use the Buyandship.my US Warehouse address as your address

In your Amazon account, fill up the address as the one presented inside your account. This is basically the US warehouse address of Buyandship.

You can find the address by click on the sidebar titled ‘Overseas Warehouse Addresses’. Inside, you’ll find addresses for each country. For US, simply click on the ‘US’ tab:

Step 3: Declare your shipment in Buyandship.my

As you’ve seen earlier, once your seller ships your item, and you have the tracking number, you can now declare your shipment inside the Buyandship.my website. It is important for you to declare the parcel so you can claim it as yours.

To do this, click on the ‘Shipments’ link in the sidebar and then click on ‘Click Here to Add a New Shipment’ button:

Fill up all the relevant info and click on ‘Add A New Item’.

Note: You need to make sure you declare the item before it arrives or you might experience delays in shipping it to you.

Step 4: Consolidate Your Shipping and Pay for Shipping Fee

After you have declared your items, now you just need to wait for the parcel to arrive at the warehouse. Once it has arrived at the HK Warehouse, you will receive an e-mail as I did earlier.

Then, you can start consolidating your shipments into one parcel. Once you have done so, they will calculate the total weight of your parcel and show you the shipping fee you need to pay.

Pay that shipping fee and then you will get a confirmation email on your order being delivered.

Once payment is made, they will proceed with shipping.

A note here: Do try to make sure you pay within 14 days because after that they will start charging you for storage fees.

Track your order using the UPS tracking.

That’s it!

Conclusion

Buyandship.my has made it a lot easier for me to buy and ship items from Amazon US into Malaysia.

It’s an easy to use, self-service platform which makes it easy to buy things from Amazon US without the need for agents to help you. 

The charges are transparent and pretty affordable, especially if you are buying small items.
